Tranquil Kitchen with a Vintage Feel
Victorian Home Kitchen Remodel

With limited counter space and storage, the owners of this historic home weren’t being served by their current kitchen. A complete gut renovation revealed the beautiful bones of the room, including original hardwood floors. An existing pantry was removed to create a new layout and provide for a wall of windows, opening up the kitchen to the outside deck.  A new walk in pantry was created to bring much needed storage to the space.  During the renovation, the designer discovered the original pantry door in tact, stored in the basement complete with vintage glass. The antique door was installed in the reimagined walk-in pantry.

The updated design improved the flow of the room by reconfiguring the space into distinct stations devoted to prep, cooking, and cleanup. The layout created space for an oversized quartz topped island with a sink, under-counter storage and dishwasher and generous stool seating for guests.  Period-style materials such as hand glazed tiles, chair rails, wood trim and crown moulding combine with a coastal paint scheme to create an updated vintage look.
